Uploaded pic of breasts lead to Anonymous member arrest

A member of the group Anonymous has been arrested after the hacker uploaded a picture of his girlfriend's breast. The picture was posted to taunt the FBI, however the taunt backfired when FBI were able to gather GPS information from the picture which led FBI to the hacker's girlfriend.

The hacker, thirty year old Higinio O.Ochoa from Texas has been charged with 'unauthorized access to a protected computer' after hacking into several websites including a government computer. Most hackers do usually leave a calling card of some type, usually a logo, a video in this case the hacker used a picture of his girlfriend's breasts which had been taken on a mobile phone and hence included GPS information. The picture shows a sign saying "PwNd by w0rmer & CabinCr3w <3 u BiTch's". Cabincr3w refers to a hacking team which is an offshoot of Anonymous while w0rmer refers to a twitter account @Anonw0rmer.

The FBI also claimed that they were able to match the 'breasts' with pictures of the hacker's girlfriend from her Facebook page claiming the 'breasts' did indeed belong to her. While it is very tempting for hackers to leave a calling card perhaps future hackers will think twice about leaving one as to not make a complete 'boob' of themselves!

Anonymous wins Time Magazine's 'Most Influential Figure'

Each year Time magazine sponsors an online poll for the 'Most Influential Figure' and this year the winner is Anonymous! According to Time magazine Anonymous received over 390,000 votes beating Reddit who took second place. While Time magazine has the official say on the published winner, the voter's choice always receives a place in the magazine. Time has given the following description for Anonymous on it's website;

"Age: Indeterminate
Occupation: Shadowy, loose-knit cadre of hackers
Anonymous isn't a person. It's not even a group of people in any well-defined sense. But if you tick off the thin-skinned, ad hoc network of hackers who collaborate under the Anonymous moniker, get ready for trouble. Members have reportedly attacked sites ranging from the Vatican's to those of major companies such as PayPal and Sony; they apparently released 75,000 credit-card numbers belonging to customers of research firm Stratfor. Arrests of dozens of suspected participants in multiple countries haven't shut down the leaderless organization."

Final results for 2012 will be announced on April 17th.

We want to know, how has Anonymous influenced you this year?

New hacktivist group helps out Anonymous

A new hacktivist group have emerged swearing to stand by and help Anonymous in their causes. The group calling themselves Malicious Security or MalSec for short released a YouTube video explaining while they will assist Anonymous this group will have a different tact. For example while Anonymous has in previous online attacks released private information, credit card numbers, personal details MalSec say they will not do this stating;

"Malsec has new methods and ideas. We have witnessed aggressive hacks that included, the general public getting attacked, and credit card information being stolen. We also have witnessed Anonymous supporters harming each other within the collective. Do you not see that this is a tactic to divide us and make us lose sight of our goals, of what is truly important? We cannot sit by idly and watch as our values are ripped away and disgraced. This is ineffective and counterproductive to achieving our goal. We do not wish to take from the people, or to harm them, but rather to empower them."

"Last year we saw "The Rise of the Hacktivists"; we saw what Anonymous and its associated collectives were capable of. This was the rise of the 99 [per cent]. In one year we achieved what was seemingly impossible. But our battle doesn't end there. We have only just begun. This year will mark something new; something unseen by previous collectives of Anonymous. This will be 'The Year of Progress'. Where things are a little bit more than for the lulz. This will be for the win. Where we tackle critical points, rather than letting our efforts go unnoticed."

There has been infighting among Anonymous and infamously at least one case of a turncoat with Anonymousabu. This could blur the Anonymous message, and like Malsec said, harm its intentions.

Anonymous have politicians running scared

It seems Anonymous's protests have once again not fallen on deaf ears. Recently Anonymous posted a YouTube video threatening to release personal information regarding Prime Minister Vic Toews if he did not put a cease to the Bill C-30 (the Conservative government’s controversial online surveillance legislation).

Mr Toews stated in parliament all politicians should be scared of Anonymous as they could target any politician next and release their personal details. Mr Toews stated "this online group called Anonymous that posted the videos hides behind masks and their claim to anonymity, and it is their threats that clearly attempt to intimidate me, and in fact all parliamentarians, as we carry out our democratically elected responsibilities."

Mr Toews asked the Public Safety Minister to put safety precautions in place so other parliament members would not be targeted, however the Public Safety Minister responded this would be impossible as the YouTube video "wasn’t a hacking job" and a similar video targeting other politicians could be uploaded anywhere at any time.

The Public Safety Minister asked Mr Toews for suggestions to prevent such incidents occurring in the future, however Mr Toews could not suggest any safety procedures to protect Parliament members from Anonymous.

Megaupload proves users were legit

In light of Megaupload's upcoming court case in which the US Government has accused Megaupload of being a hotbed for illegal users, Mega has proved the majority of it's users were legitimate. Megaupload has released that a large sum of it's users were actually belonging to US Officials including over 15,000 accounts held by US Military. Of the accounts held by US Officials these included accounts held by members of the FBI, Homeland Security, NASA and the Senate.
Megaupload attorney's and users are fighting hard for the data to not be deleted at this time however there is no certainty at this time if the information will be saved.
Kim Dotcom with his new twin baby girls

In other Megaupload news Kim Dotcom and his wife Mona welcome their twin baby girls into the world. The twin girls are reported to be a healthy weight at 5.3 and 6.2lbs however their names have not yet been released. This is the fourth and fifth children for the couple. While Kim Dotcom is still under house arrest leading up to his extradition case the founder can live comfortably with his $50,000 a month spending limit. When doctor's asked if the couple would like to keep the placenta Kim Dotcom responded "yes, and please send it to the FBI for forensic analysis so they can verify there is no pirate DNA ;-)". If nothing else Megaupload founder has kept his sense of humour.

Facebook lawsuit update

We recently posted about current court case between Facebook and Paul Ceglia who is suing Facebook for half of the IPO shares. This is not the first time Paul Ceglia has sued Facebook and claims he is the rightful owner and creator of Facebook and hired Mark Zuckerberg to help with development of the website.

In response to the claims Mark Zuckerberg and his attorney's have now filed a motion to dismiss the case stating that Mr Ceglia's case is based on forged documents, forged emails and claims Ceglia destroyed any documents proving he is not the owner of Facebook.

It has not been announced at this time if the lawsuit will be dismissed, as this comes right before the launch of Facebook's IPO the matter will have to settled beforehand. Ceglia has turned over a cheque and documents stating they contain proof he was the creator of Facebook, however at this time the documents have been undergoing extensive testing to determine if the documents are legitimate. We will keep our readers updated.

In other matters the IPO is still announced by financial experts to be a bad investment for the average person. The IPO is designed to make current shareholders richer and while Facebook's value will increase their daily profit intake is decreasing making the new shares a bad buy.

Anonymous targets child abusers

The hacktivist group Anonymous have announced to target The Judge Rotenberg Educational Center located in Massachusetts, United States. The Center is a special needs school however their treatments are quite controversial including electric shock treatment, restraints and withholding food to their children and young adult clients.

Anonymous announced it has targeted the center and will continue to target the center until the abuse of their clients are ceased. Critics have already claimed the center as being a house of torture but the center stands by their treatment methods. Anonymous hacked into their website and has already posted the contact information of staff of the center on pastebin which can be found here.

Anonymous also sent this message to the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center:

"To the director and staff of the Judge Rotenberg Center, we are Anonymous.

Your mistreatment of disabled children and young adults has been brought to our attention. Your extensive use of aversive methods, including electric shock and withholding of food as a form of behavioral modification is nothing less than torture. We are aware that your so called treatments include attaching electrodes to students and administering a shock that is up to 20 times more powerful than that delivered by a police taser. We have seen the effects of it in mainstream media broadcasts, and heard the statements of opposition by family and friends.

The founder, Doctor Matthew Israel was indicted on counts of obstructing justice by ordering the destruction of video evidence that detailed an event involving a student being shocked over 100 times. This is not the first action taken against the center for abuses. However, electric shock is still used as a part of the centers aversive program.

In response to your torture of these individuals, we have initiated an operation against your center. We are calling upon all concerned citizens to spread the message of opposition through social networks, emails, and phone communications. Contact your local representatives and the Judge Rotenberg Center directly and voice your concern. We will no longer tolerate the abuse of the innocent.

We are demanding the immediate discontinue of all harsh aversive methods. This is a warning that you should not take lightly.

We are Anonymous.
We are legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Judge Rotenberg Center, you should expect us."

Anonymous hacks Salemi Vittorio Sgarbi's website

Anonymous have hacked Salemi Vittorio Sgarbi's website several times in the last twenty four hours. Salemi Vittorio Sgarbi was the former Mayor of Salemi, Italy and now an art critic. The group Anonymous plastered the website with the slogan "Fuori la mafia dallo Stato" which translates as "keep mafia out of government". Salemi Vittorio Sgarbi resigned as Mayor after allegations were made he was involved with the mafia. The group also uploaded pictures of Paolo Borsellino who was an anti-mafia magistrate who was killed by a car bomb believed to be a mafia act two months after his fellow anti-mafia magistrate was assassinated.

Anonymous also left this message on the website, "hello Vittorio, once again you've missed out on a great opportunity to keep your mouth shut... we don't like homophobes and mafia sympathisers and we don't like you. We are Anonymous. We don't forget. We don't forgive. Keep watching."

We are currently giving away a Guy Fawkes Mask to a lucky winner!
